I have always been proud to be an American. I LOVE the feeling I get when the Star Spangled Banner is sung. I have Americana decorations in parts of my home. I love seeing our flag waving in the air. You should listen to the song playing on my blog... It gives me chills/tears!

WHERE WERE YOU????
I remember 9-11 very well. I had kidney stones (which is some of the worst pain I have been in) and my Aunt Diane was taking me to the hospital early that morning. When I got in the car she had the radio on and asked if I had been watching what was going on. I have never been a big news watcher so I had not. She told me that two planes had crashed into the World Trade Center Twin Towers. At the time, we did not know terrorists were involved. When I got to the hospital of course everyone was watching it and talking about it. I remember coming home and napping and then going over to Bryan's house for his brother Joey's birthday party and eating home made pizza. Afterwards we turned on the news and watched more coverage about the events.
I will never forget the trip we took to New York last summer. It was am amazing experience. This is the only picture we got of 'Ground Zero' where the Twin Towers once stood. It is under lots of construction and had huge walls around it so we could not see much.

This is a picture from the helicopter ride and you can see where the Twin Towers once stood.
We visited a bunch of fire station while in New York. This one was right next to where the Twin Towers stood and they were the first responding fire station to get to the scene.
This neat memorial plaque was around the corner from this particular fire station.
Bryan kneeling by a corner of the plaque with the number 343. The number of fire fighters that lost their lifes that day.
There was a memorial like this at every fire station we went to. To remember the men they lost on 9-11.
Just after taking pictures and visiting the fire station by 'Ground Zero' (its on the other side of that wall) they were called out. It was a rush just watching them go.

Thank you for sharing!! I love that they have put a memorial at each fire station for the lives they lost.
It does not seem real that it has already been 8 years!! I sat in my front room all day watching the coverage with Will & Wyatt they had just turned one!! Scared me to death to know I had two little ones to protect then, now I have four!!!
