I LOVE Lake Powell- LOVE IT!!! I have been going every year since I was 9 or 10 (the age of April's oldest which seems crazy) It is such a wonderful and beautiful place. It's where we go to relax and also a place where we do so much we come home exhausted. The beach they found this year had an amazing sandcastle. It was a HUGE dragon with the wall of china on and around him. Beside the sandcastle there was the Olympic rings and the date 2008. Whoever made this did an incredible job, is a big Olympic fan and I am sure it took a lot of work. We knew it would not last long on the beach with our children and we were right. The kids had a lot of fun playing on and "slaying" the dragon.
My boys had a blast. Griffin is a fish. He loves the water and swims really well. He would spend hours just swimming around the houseboat in his little life jacket looking SO cute. He got so comfortable that he would hold his breath and go under water which he was very proud of. He could not wait to go fishing. He was excited about catching a fish and also very proud when he did. There were ducks that came around once in awhile and Griff thought that was cool and he liked feeding them bread.Speaking of fish, funny story (well not for me) I HATE fish- hate them. Yes I know that is a strong word but I just can't stand the slimy things and the thought of them fishing around me while I swim. I was washing my hair off the back of the houseboat and I let out a little squeal because I felt a fish nibble my thigh, so I got some attention which I did not want and then a few people thought it would be funny to throw some food in the water around me while I was washing my hair. Well then I feel another fish nibble my ankle and by this time I was FREAKING OUT and screaming and I had a an audience that just thought I was CRAZY. But who likes to be nibbled by fish?? And Lake Powell's carp fish are HUGE- so scary!! A little embarrassing to freak out in front of so many people though.
Gavin is now known as "bruiser" poor little guy came home with 5-7 bruises on his forehead (see picture above) He had a good time, he just could not stay up on those two little feet of his. From the rock of the houseboat and the uneven ground he was a walking disaster.
He liked riding the sea doo but fell asleep almost every time he got on. I pulled him and Bry behind the sea doo on a tube going an ok speed, but we hit a bump and off they went. Gav was surprised but did not cry. He liked finding rocks on the shore and throwing them in the water the most and he starting saying "whoa" I think from all the new and fun things he was experiencing.
I am thankful for my Uncle Boyd's family and the relationship I have with them and the opportunity we have to go on such a great vacation every year. I had such a good time with April like I always do. I love our friendship. It was fun talking about "old times" (like I said we have been going since we were little) I can remember pretending to be Ariel coming up out of the water like she did in "The Little Mermaid" I remember jumping off cliffs while screaming lines from our favorite movies. We would play all day in the water except when we were eating or sleeping. I think there are a dozen rocks out there with boys names on them and we wonder if we would ever come across them again. It was also nice just to catch up and visit about our cute little families. I have to say that I truly admire April. She cares for her six with no problem it seems. She is a GREAT mother and takes a calm approach about so many things. Our three year olds had a good time together and I think if they would have been together much longer there could have been some serious trouble.
What good times!!!!

What a trip! I couldn't stop thinking about what you said about our trips now being for our kids now. Boy, ain't it the truth! I'm so glad you were able to be there.
